MOVEMENT

Like the gears of a clock, the individual mechanical elements of this massive system work together to perform a multitude of system effects. Use the science of motion and energy to make sounds, move water, lift objects, and more.

Individual, multi-person and group play produce various outcomes, including music generated from a moving conveyer belt attached to a mouse reel, and the swinging of a giant pendulum.

Various interactive mechanical motions and expressions merge into one giant working system involving water, sound and other effects all at teh hands of the visitor. The multi-level system of Movement encourages exploration and an understanding of mechanical processes from different persepectives and angles.

The design highlights flexibility and playability with different paths and routes resulting in a multitude of outcomes. Various levels of collaboration invite create thinking and problem solving with outcomes effected by timing, water routes and musical elements.

Utilizing operating and lifting mechanisms, visitors will move water on various pathways throughout the entire system diving into concepts such as Newton's law of motion, energy, power, friction, momentum and more...

The extensive mechanical water system of Movement is the initial starting point for the continuous flow of water throughout the entire Garden.
